Key Features:
- Employer’s Liability – covering compensation claims from employees, up to £10m
- Public Liability - £2m as standard or £5m for some businesses
Products Liability – set as £2m as standard, with the option to increase to £5m - Trade Contents–select cover up to £500,000 for your contents and stock (excludes storm and flood damage to movable items left in the open)
- Money and Personal assault – up to £3,000 (excludes loss from unattended vehicles & assault on persons under 16 or over 70)
- Goods in Transit - £2,500 as standard with the option to increase to £10,000 (excludes some items e.g. glass, documents and livestock)
- Deterioration of Stock – up to £1,000 total, in up to 5 cold chambers or freezers (higher levels available on request)
- Business interruption – up to £600,000 for loss of gross profit and reasonable expenses incurred as a result of an insured incident. Cover lasts for up to 24 months while you get your business up and running again
- Legal Expenses – covering costs of legal disputes up to £100,000 in relation to the business
with options to add:
- Buildings cover – cover for your premises, including subsidence cover
- Loss of license - covers loss of profits or a decrease in value to your premises up to £250k caused by the loss of your entertainment or liquor license
- Terrorism – covers damage to your property as a result of terrorism up to the sums insured

Q: How long is a quote valid for?
The quote will remain valid for up to 60 days from the quote date.
Q: How far in advance can I get a quote?
You can get a quote anytime, but it expires after 60 days, so it’s best to get one no more than 60 days before you need cover to start.
Q: What if I don't know the date of a previous claim when completing the application?
It is important that you provide accurate information in respect of previous claims as failure to do so may invalidate your policy or result in a claim not being paid. Please contact your previous insurer who should be able to provide the details you require.

Q: How many claims can I have had previously?
In order to get an online quote your business must not have been subject to more than two incidents, losses or claims (or the total value of all claims must not exceed £5,000) within the past three years. If this is not the case you may still be able to receive a quotation but you will need to call the Business Insurance Centre on 0800 048 1669.

Public liability is designed to cover you against your legal liability in connection with your business to pay compensation and claimants costs and expenses in respect of accidental injury to any person or damage to material property. Please note that it does not provide cover in respect of injury to your own employees - this will require Employers' Liability

Employers' Liability is designed to cover you against your legal liability to pay compensation and claimant's costs in respect of injury and disease sustained by any of your employees undertaking work in connection with your business. Please note that most employers are required by law to have employers' liability insurance. There is no limit on the number of staff you can employ under this policy.

The minimum level of security you must have in place is detailed in the Complete Retailer Policy Wording Document. In addition, based on your specific details you may be required to install an intruder alarm - this will be shown in your quote.

You may not need to have an alarm on your property - this will be based on your specific details. Your quote will detail whether you are required to install one.
Q: If I don't select a certain cover on my policy now, can I add it later in the year?
Yes, providing any acceptance criteria are met.
Q: I have some specialist equipment in my premises for my occupation, can I list this somewhere on my policy so I know it is covered?

Q: What is the maximum number of staff I can employ?
There is no limit on the number of staff you can employ under this policy.
Q: If I use a private vehicle to pick up stock is it covered in transit?
Yes providing the vehicle is owned by you. The policy offers £2,500 cover for goods in transit as standard - you may choose a higher level if required. Some high risk goods are not covered, such as glass, documents and livestock – please read the Complete Retailer Policy Wording Document carefully to ensure you will be covered.
Q: Am I covered for loss of refrigerated stock due to electrical failure (outside of my control)?
Cover is provided under the deterioration of stock section. The policy provides £1,000 of cover as standard, for stock in up to 5 cold chambers or freezers, but you can increase this limit if necessary. Freezers and cold chambers over 10 years old will require a maintenance contract.
Q: Can you cover my van under the Restaurant and Bars policy?
This cover can not be included under the Complete Retailer policy. You can insure your van separately under the Commercial Vehicle policy.
Q: I have guest rooms in my Pub, should I cover this under another policy?
Providing you do not have more than four guest rooms the Complete Retailer package can be used. Should you have more than four guest rooms you will need to call the Business Insurance Centre on 0800 048 1669 for a quote

Q: I have a function room in my pub, are there any restrictions on the type of function I am covered for?
We are likely to accept the majority of functions, but there may be some exceptions. If you have any doubts about the intended use then please call the Business Insurance Centre on 0800 048 1669 for further assistance.
Q: Are fruit machines and pool tables covered under your Restaurant and Bars policy?
Yes - providing the value of the equipment has been included in the sum insured you give to the Business Insurance Centre, under the contents section, cover for these machines is given. The money inside the machines will be covered under the money section, although there is a limit on the amount of cash that is covered out of business hours that is not stored in a safe.
Q: We cook certain dishes tableside in our restaurant, am I covered for this?
Yes this would be covered.
Q: We hold public BBQs in the beer garden in the summer, is this covered?
Yes. Cover in respect of your legal liability for injury to third parties would be covered; however, there is no cover for the equipment itself.
Q: Our restaurant has outside tables, will this affect the policy?
This would not affect your cover, however, please note that any furniture left outside the premises is not insured under this policy.
Q: Can I cover more than one premise on your Restaurants and Bars policy?

Q: If I obtain an extended licence (past 12am) several times a year, will I still be covered?

Yes. Cover in respect of your legal liability for injury to third parties would be covered, however, there is no cover for the equipment itself.
